I am a well-being life coach who focuses on culture, mind, and body. I help you reach your goals through clarity of thought and resilience to stress.

The reason I started this website was because I have become aware and fascinated about mental well-being. To put that into context I am now in my retirement years and perhaps viewing the past with nostalgia and the discovery of self. I feel I am very fortunate in this perplexing life of random events to have a life that, in my view, contains a balance of peace, contentment and delight.

I had a confused childhood as my Father left my Mother just after my birth, and she moved to her parent’s house. My Mother spoilt me, but she felt the need to have a man in both of our lives. I was ten when she married my Stepfather, who was bad-tempered and jealous of the attention my Mother gave to me over him. I gradually became introverted to the point I could hardly speak in public, and I failed most of my exams at school. It took over twenty years to recover my confidence.

Whilst in this dejected state of growing up, I was never sad and always thought everything would be alright in the end. I wasn’t afraid to do things and joined a Rugby Club and the Scouts, probably to offer an alternative to home. I joined the Royal Air Force at age 16 as an apprentice and left 27 years later as an Engineering Officer. I wanted a different challenge, so I taught myself graphic and product design. This led to marketing opportunities, and another 24-year career in the audio-visual industry ensued, which brings me up to date.

Over the last twenty years, I have become interested in Tai Chi and as a consequence with Daoism, transcendental meditation and Eastern culture. What resonates strongly is that the world is made up of opposites, that for the majority, following our journey through life will work out fine, that we have no more of a right to be on this earth than any other living organism and the balance with nature is the key to our survival. At present the human race acts very much like a virus!

The purpose of this site is to try and make some sense of the human condition using a common sense approach. Ancient philosophers concluded that our bodies have three energy centres (dantians): upper, middle and lower. The upper, located in the forehead, is associated with intuition, spirit, and spiritual life. It’s also linked to the brain’s physical functions and sensory organs, as well as the psychological processes of thinking and contemplation. The middle, located around the solar plexus, is associated with breath, mind, love, and inner organs. It’s also linked to the physical functions of respiration and the circulation of qi and blood, as well as the emotional and interaction centre of the body. The lower, located in the lower abdomen between the navel and the pubic bone, this is associated with digestion, elimination, and reproduction. In the Book of the Yellow Emperor, the lower dantian is referred to as the seat of Jing (Jing or essence is a substance you inherit from your parents at the moment of conception. It subsequently fuels your growth and development as the pregnancy progresses and continues to do so throughout your infancy, childhood and adolescence.) and the source of Yuan qi (Prenatal energy source). The chemicals we require for brain function are the food we eat and therefore, our physical and mental health should be investigated together as our biology.

The latest thinking on our biology from eminent figures in their fields will be reported for your education or interest.
